Latin America is a complex and rich fabric, interwoven with cultures influenced by its Native, Spanish and African traditions. In Inwood, we experience the flavors of this myriad of backgrounds on every corner: the foods, the fashions, the infectious rhythms of popular music and dances. But there is also a lesser-known classical side, for those who like to dress up and go to the theater, or sip some wine in an intimate gathering of poetry and piano. Puerto Rican mezzo-soprano Laura Virella and Dominican tenor José Heredia invite you to meet and savor this world: An evening of Zarzuela (Spanish Operetta) and Latin American art song, in the heart of our diverse Inwood.
América Latina es una mezcla fascinante de culturas. Todas elaboradas a partir de influencias amerindias, españolas y africanas. En el microcosmos de Inwood se degustan todos esos sabores en cada esquina: las comidas tradicionales, las modas, los ritmos contagiosos de nuestra música popular. Sin embargo, hay un lado clásico que no todos conocen. Para los que les gusta emperifollarse e irse al teatro o tomarse un vinito en un evento pequeño, íntimo, al sonido de la poesía y un piano, la mezzosoprano puertorriqueña Laura Virella y el tenor dominicano José Heredia los invitan a darse la vuelta y entrar en ese ámbito: una velada de zarzuela (operetta española) y canción lírica latinoamericana, en el corazón de Inwood.
